  1. Followed 'Keeping you bus alive V3' and upgraded my wiper switch to electric. Washer bottle with integrated pump on way from Fleabay.[IMG]

    Quick job today.

I took the back seats out of my crew cab the day it arrived. This was so I could remove the fuel tank (partially full of diesel !) and clean out the hidden area in front of the engine and fix the tank retaining straps.

Today I put the 2 blanking panels in and reinstated the back seat.

    It’s a 6 seater again now : - )

I resisted the temptation to go for a drive.

Got to wait for DVLA to issue a UK registration number : - (

  3. You could convert your current bottle or fit an inline pump

  4. Does that mean drilling an extra hole in it?

Just make sure with any aftermarket electric screen wash pump that it is designed with the motor pointing up or with drain holes so when the pump lip seals leak the motor does not become a rusty blob in a little pot of water. If its integral with the bottle your replacement opportunities are limited .
I went in the end for a cheapo GM fit pump attached inline to the original bottle installed underneath it and a non return valve with a microswitch in the switch assembly instead of a little valve

Anyway today I fixed the dry soldered joimt in my oil pressure relay setup.
    Fitted LED sidelight bulbs.
And took all the shims out of the alternator pulley... GSF belt a bit skinny new...and thinner after about 200 miles ...

Points out and reset as per the usual way on the dist rotor shaft cam.... .45mm.
It started but was all over the place..
Loosened the distributor locking collar and set it to 7.5btc..with a strobe. Dwell proved tiresome with the best result ending with a reading of 39.7 Type 4 engine.
Went well on the road though so leave well alone methinks.:)

  8. Drove Filmore down to his temporary new home at the in laws. The misfire he has had for the last few months cleared up with fresh fuel and a run down the motorway, so I'm guessing it was condensation or stale fuel. .
I also bought a hot start relay from Volksgoods. Lovely bit of kit with all the connections made and shrink wrapped. Trouble is, I haven't had the chance to fit it yet.

Went out in the bus for the first time in a whole week.

Came across this at Titchfield Haven. "The Splitscreen Barista" Good way to bring in some money with a single cab.
Queued for a bit but service was slow and in the end I set up the Devon cooker in the bus, and brewed up in less time than waiting for a load of cappucinos to be brewed.

And I could stay out of the biting wind.

    20180211_104659.jpg

Went home and shimmed up the passenger door bottom hinge with about a 2mm stainless shim as it was letting in a bit of a draft at the top and hitting the catch even with the catch pushed down all the way in the doorframe.
Waving a picture of @davidoft at it did not help :(.

It seems that having the belly pans removed and sills replaced both sides alters the shape of the top of the bus subtly. The sils were joggled and welded onto the last 25mm of the old sills as these were still solid - the rot was water creeping along the seam at the bottom.

I notice also inside the bus that a table that used to fit exactly on its side on the floor behind the drivers seat under the brackets for the cooker top used as a table now does not fit.

  15. Finally replaced temporary heating pipes earlier. Lasted 5 years but will replace these with original Y piece before next 5 years. [IMG]

  17. That looks like a good kit. Plenty of cable so you can mount the relay in the engine compartment.

    TrustPilot Review : one star.
When the item arrived it was found to be contaminated with a cat. The presence of the cat prevented me fixing the suckers properly, and what is worse it fell on my head out of the packaging when I tried to install the item in my bus for the first time. Then it ate all my bacon and weed all over the floor which is now rotting. Needless to say my bus now smells of cat and leaks spray through the floor......
