Took him to the local weighbridge 1.680 tonnes.
So a tried to source a suitable single post hoist online..
Prices varied quite considerably. £1800 to £2800 for a 2.5T
Anyone own a single post portable hoist.
Recommendations welcome..As I'm getting decrepit and find crawling under my van awkward.

Anyway jacked him up as I needed to sort the brakes out all the same.

Used Tufty tool adapter to loosen the nuts.

Back end is now on jacks waiting to have the rear star adjusters twiddled.

  4. You know someone's left a socket wrench under your van?

  6. I wouldn't polish in direct sunlight. Had a nasty experience once, the panel I was doing went all milky, and I couldn't get rid of it. I always polish in shadow or on cloudy days.

  7. Love that seat. If you put an engine in it, it would be faster than your van...

  8. TBH I'm pretty used to detailing stuff so did this side early this morning whilst the panel was still cool .... you are right I'd never do it in direct sun ... the other sides were nicely in shade and cool :)

  10. Took it out filled it up with petrol and did the school run. The battery has loads of charge but very reluctant starter once hot ... doesn't turn over is this the hot start issue.

  11. After building up some courage to replace the ignition switch I just did it. All the reading and setting up wasn’t needed. It’s a 79 so the switch just unscrews once the ignition Shroud is off the column. No drilling as the barrel does not need removing to change the switch and there is no sheer bolt.
Less than an hour to do the whole job.

  12. Polished mine today too , took a pic but the reflection was sh it :D . Did a mini service too oil n bits . Took it for a run was smooooth :) Lurv your unit by the way

Had a glorious drive over to Schofields in the sunshine, bought some bits for the Landmark and treated my pickup to some drop spindles and new anti roll bar bushes, might be a job for TE!

  17. Was painted 18 years ago so it’s had a few coats of polish since ,but it’s got a couple of scabs want doing .

Loose wire on idle shutoff if you have one.
Or the throttle spindle bushings are worn and the butterfly throttle plate is hanging up on the side of the venturi and /or its worn a groove un the venturi and its wedging on that. If the spindle is worn, its leaking air in there and also possubly jamming. New bushings for the spindle may be needed.

When you have idle try a quick tap on the throttle. If the idle speed it returns to is different you have an issue with the throttle plate/spindle..

My old 34 PICT -3 once jammed at about 2000 rpm. A quick tap on the throttle and it went back to normal.

I rebuilt it then replaced it with a new Spanish Weber progressive rather than some EMPI clone full of swarf and flash.
