  1. Ok so we've just returned from our 'summer' hols camping around the southern coast of Devon and Cornwall.
We began our tour 2 weeks ago, the sunday of the summer camp. Unfortunately we left too late to visit the guys who went, but there were plenty of bays on the road coming west as we were going east. Did you see us?

This fella went past us near portsmouth

The slow going near Bournemouth meant the peasants started revolting !!

First port of call was our friends the Rouse family in Axminster.
We camped on their drive for a couple of days

Whilst there we visited the Fleet Air Arm museum, much to the good lady wife's dismay, lol. But the kids loved it.

The next day was spent on Lyme Regis beach, body boarding, kayaking and crabbing. The beach we went to was shingle, the sandy bit was far too packed to be any fun. When the tide went out a sort of reef was uncovered and the boys spent ages rock pooling and crabbing. Eldest got on really well with the kayaking, looks like that's next on the purchase list then!!

We then moved on and headed towards Salcombe, staying at a campsite near Kingsbridge called Parklands.

    Time for an ad break
Will post more later when uploaded more photos

  5. Part II

After pitching up at Parklands we spent the next couple of days exploring Salcombe.
First popped in to Kingsbridge to get the boys their body boards. Seemed quite nice, shame didn't have more time to explore.
Salcombe was a nice little town, usual surfy / sailing shops, good views over the estuary, bit touristy and locals were terribly poshwalking around with their sailing waterproofs and life preservers on, lol.
Went down to North sands beach which has a car park on the beach, which was quite cheap, toilets and a bar/cafe/restaurant called the winking prawn. There's also a green there with picnic tables.
The beach itself was nice and flat.
Had a great time on the beach chilling out, reading me book, boys body boarded and rock pooled again when the tide went out, seemed like bloody miles. It starts off at the rocks in second pic before disappearing in to distance haha.
Spent all day there and had a quick barbie in the evening on the green before heading back to camp.

North sands car park , spot the camper?

Went to Hope Cove the next day. Nice pictureque fishing village. There's 2 beaches 1 was sandy and rocky the other was the beach in front of the harbour. The sandy beach was packed so we went to the other one but wasn't as good as North sands

Left about lunchtime and headed off to new campsite near Looe called Bay view

Spent the next few days exploring Looe and around about. Wifie took 2 eldest boys on glass bottom boat tour round the island while me and 'baby' took in looe, don't do boats me, go a bit green round the gills haha !!

Got myself a new T Shirt, ok its a splitty but couldn't resist, and the bloke said i was never a xxl haha !!

Took in Talland bay which is a great little cove nearby with a cafe and car park as well. Bit of a trek to find down long single track roads but worth it.

Our next move took us towards Fowey staying at a campsite in a small village called St Winnow. I found it on here shortly before the 'crash', and its also an old camping and caravanning site recommended by the Rouse family.

The campsite, not so bust here

And they have fire pits ready for you, although you have to forage for your own wood !!

Our friends met up with us here and we went to the Eden project, where we enjoyed den building, water play, circus play as well as the biomes.

After a couple of days and getting towards the end of our 2 weeks we decided to head back eastwards, and being as we'd enjoyed North sands so much decided to go back. This time staying at a called Alston Farm.

    Time for ad break 2
Mainly because photobucket seems to have frozen !!

This time when we went to North sands we parked up , then walked up and down the hill to South sands.
Nice beach again but maybe North sands is better. From here we caught the boat that takes you to Salcombe
The tractor bus thing in the background takes you out to the boat.

After a walk round salcombe its a short walk along the coast path back to the van.
We then had another barbie before heading over to the winking prawn for a beer

There's a dressing up box to keep the kids amused, or was it really Bin Laden?

Didn't eat there but the food we saw going out looked really good and the prices on the menu seemed reasonable too.
After our final beach day it was a quick pack up the next morning and back to Axminster for an overnight stay and dinner with our friends before heading home .
    Boo.
