Lots of things to work out in here, gas pipes and wiring galore!

Dont think any of this is original but its well made and should tidy up nicely.

Being 6'4" I still cant stand up but its better than my tintop!

At some point I believe in May this year the van was stolen, stripped and abandoned

More late nights in store sorting this lot out, Lucky I'm strange and enjoy wiring.

All in all it should make for a nice little winter project,

  4. Hey Andy, I had hoped you might be on here too.

She looks a very tidy and well kept van and I hope I can do her proud

  5. Plenty o room in there

  6. Does the power steering work?

  7. It's currently missing the controller but I have one at home (I building an epas column for my other van) so there's no reason why I shouldn't.

Looking forward to your resto thread

  11. Hopefully it'll be a relatively quick recommisioning rather than a full on resto which it doesnt really need. I think sourcing the missing parts is whats going to be the most difficult and time consuming part.

I've had a chance today to have a better look in the cold light of day,

Got all the plastic off that was protecting the windows (or lack of them) and cleaned off all the glue, then had a rout round my mates place and found two tailgate screens and the sliding door glass so that was a bonus.

Gave the inside a little clean out,

Probably just caught the floor before major surgery is required,

Little bit of grot to sort out, im thinking the units may have to come out now to check the other side. Plans are to possibly sand down and paint or maybe use a laminate.

Maybe a little naughty without any clocks to check for oil pressure but after a quick charge up I turned the key, not really expecting much tbh but she cranked... and cranked... and cranked.... and nothing.

Battery was quickly dying, so one more try wont hurt and BOOM! she fired up and idled well considering, very smooth and quiet.

Gave it a little a test backwards and forwards to check for gears and more importantly brakes, then off we went. Short cruise around the industrial estate and it drives very well esp consideing it has two bent steering arms and an unbolted steering wheel.

My dad then turned up and decided that he had to have a go, bare in mind that he's owned one ten years and yet never actually driven a bay. He also wanted to try the Epas power steering as its going in his, although he obviously didnt realise that it wasnt working and was complaing that the steerings too heavy when he got out.

Not sure if this will work, cant seem to get it to embed.

I don't want to spoil your thread but that's another one of them buses that don't look like a L reg 72 year to me

  14. Yep, well its pretty obvious to those in the know and im sure, in fact I know its not the only one out there with a shady past. All part of its history now, someone obvoiusly desired some tax free driving.

  15. LOL, I was considering naming it the Jim Parsons bus, or maybe the Flash bus but it'd probably have to be red for that!

Fair enough, Happy days then

  17. I managed to get down the unit today and spent an hour of so with the Sheldon, things are pretty much just a parts hunt at the moment so there's not much to do really other than clean.

And there's no better place than to start at the top.

Not really sure if I want to explain this one to the kids so unfortunately the bogs ***** just had to go,

It's hard to make out in the photo but the ***** are putting up a good fight! going to need something a little more abrasive to shift

And these tar/sap spots are a nightmare! dreading doing the top of the roof

    Slowly but surly though,

I'd like to see if I can replace the Sheldon sticker, this one has to go though.

  18. Sorry really boring update but the results have been so satisfying, even though the front and one corner took nearly two hours!
