I think my tank is from the states - I bought it off Tom Clark in Swadlincote ( Clarke’s automotive) he’d taken it off a westy Import as it was going to a rental company in Portugal i believe and they don’t like the underslung tanks for whatever reason...

I’m planning on simply swapping the original regulator for a suitably rated one and that screws straight into the open/close valve knob thing .

This is the removed regulator :

Oh! Well as I said I reckon you want a 30mb regulator anyway.
Why not phone Tinley Tech or Gasit for some advice tomorrow? I've had correspondence with both and they're proper helpful.
It may be that you'll need a machinist to customise a male/male fitting for the tank with the US thread one end and euro the other but that'd be pretty easy for the right guy.
I'd look at sorting an external regulator first and take it from there.
Of course you could always do what physiopro did and stick the tank between the front seats!

I reckon you’re right , I may give gasit a call , although there’s a chap that ( I think is on here) has just messaged me with what looks to be the right sort of thing so may be sorted ..may be

  6. A bit late in the post but thought I would mention that a 1/4" gas fitting has a thread major diameter of 0.518" the 1/4" refers to the bore of the fitting, confused me for a while:)

  9. And another thing....
Just another point about pipe threads, the American version of a 1/4" fitting is only 8.5 thousands of an inch bigger on the major diameter, which I suspect would make bugger all difference on a tapered thread
    :)

  10. @Dazza i definitely got all my parts including regulator from here: http://vanagonwestfaliaaccessories.com/ i cant see the regulator on the site now but he has the plastic covers so may be able to get the regs still, if he still has everything of course

Still says protect from rain;). Are you fitting it inside?

  16. It will be under the bus so protected from rain spray now that’s another thing :)

Going to buy a plastic cover...if such a thing exists :p

  18. Is it an American tank? If so that reg won't fit. The left hand thread is slightly larger than the tap side.
Don't ask me how or why but it's true.

    You may be lucky though
