Westfalia accessory fuses

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by 79westy, Sep 16, 2017.

  1. Does anyone have info on what each of the Westfalia accessory fuses does on a late bay? I thought I knew but it doesn't stack up when I pull fuses.

    Confused

  3. I've a aftermarket fusebox on my Devon, just behind the driver's seat. It has 3 fuses but they were never connected when I bought it.

Guessing that the 3 fuses were for interior lights, water pump, and fridge ?

There is one for the sink water pump, ours comes from either fuse 9 or 10 into a separate fuse holder then down to the pump itself. Not sure if this is factory or not but it works

  5. Yes, photo attached. I've even had the German hand written notes translated but it doesn't seem to match

  6. Oh! How did they do it originally?

As davidoft says, the 'appliances' have their own fuses. The fridge panel has a fuse as does the OG water pump.
You can download Westy manuals from the Samba. Everything else, lighting, radio etc runs from the standard fuse box under the dash.

However, a separate fuse box for the camping gear side even if it's aftermarket has to be a good thing (done properly)

  9. My Berlin didn't have separate fuses. I think everything came off the main fuse box. It didn't even have a leisure battery to start with, though it does now. I've since fitted a small separate 4 way fuse box inside the fridge mechanism next to the back seat. This serves the strip light, radio and two accessory sockets. There didn't seem much point rewiring the fridge or sink pump.

Sounds about right but I don't think the interior light came off a fuse here. Might just be a spare. Should be a relay there as well for the fridge.
