I have a Westy Berlin with an original 3 way (hook up/ 12 volt/ gas) fridge. It works well on hook up and within a few hours has icing on the element, but run it on gas... Nothing! In fact it may even warm the element up. It lights almost first press and stays lit, but does very little. Any ideas, any thing I can do?? Thanks in advance...
Does it work on 12v when you drive as that uses the same element, sometimes the gas settles and you need to turn the fridge upside down for a day, plus were you level as they don't like angles the 3 wayers.
Not tried on 12v, but would of expected it to work on gas if it's ok on hook up. Always on the level when tried.. Thanks
Ok will look into it more and try it on 12v and see what happens. Don't fancy stripping the interior out just to turn it upside down lol Thanks
We have an old Electrolux 3 way and I found that there was (can't think of a better way to describe it) tar in the copper pipe where the gas feeds to the burner/element. Stripped it and cleaned it out and the fridge worked great afterwards. The fridge has to be level though when in use with gas so that the flame/heat is focused in the right area. ENSURE when you rebuild it that the pipe work is sealed correctly.
Turn the whole bus upside down. Save you a lot of bother. As congi says, the gas and 12v use the same system whereas 240v hookup is a differnt cooling circuit altogether. If it works on 12v and not gas, there's problem with your gas system but I rather suspect it won't work on 12v if it's not working on gas.
