Which oil....in a pinch...?

  1. So...no 20w50 at the Feu Vert...picked up something close (mineral at least), so should be good to get home ;)

    TBH, the motor is performing excellently...more torque, better on hills...just drinking lots of oil !!

  2. Well....made it to Calais without incident, though I have an extremely dirty engine!!

    It looks as if oil spraying out of every possible orifice!! Additionally, there has been something of a smokescreen produced whenever I'm a little heavy with the right foot...(Oil leaking from the rocker-covers onto the H/X boxes, I think)

    Given that the motor has performed very well and has had good oil pressure & temp, I think I have a crank case pressurisation problem.

    Specifically, I have a feeling that despite changing all the rings, I think there is some blow-by on at least one piston....

    Engine out over the weekend, I think.

    PS, I'm thinking of driving back from folkstone with the Oil filler cap off, to give more crank case ventilation...given that the engine is already covered in oil, would there be any other reason not to do this??
