winter hack £4,000

  1. looking to get reliable. winter hack.been looking at caddy vans. golf mark 2 possible. what would you get.
    got to be german. possible a volvo. and not crazy on insurance. :confused:

    Or depending how brave you're feeling, I'm sure early/mid 2000's 7-series can be had within that money. You can do some proper wafting about in those, especially the long wheel base ones :)

  6. skoda fabia shall have a look :beer: i like the oldish Volvos 240 etc and the smaller ones. didn't no they weren't german.;)

  7. you get a lot for your money on the skoda. looking at a very nice 1.6tdi cr se plus 2011 49k on the clock £4,290. metallic green.would be like a new
    car to me.:eek:. my other half drives a mark 1 as a daily for the last 12 years. my bus if of the road till next year . not shaw if i fancy another winter
    on the bike. is the 1.2 any good. cheers the drama man.jonboy-t

  9. your wright about BMW rubbish in snow. had a 2002 polo what a pile of rubbish. A3s yes.
    theres a nice 3 door 1.6 technik 3 door 73k 2009 for under £5000. of to the pub for a think.

  11. I'm not a fan of the Fabia, too small for me, but you do get a lot for your money with used Skodas. The Fabia is like a cut price Golf, for what you'd spend on a poverty spec Golf, you'd get the top spec Skoda with all the trimmings.

    Here's a left field option - Mitsubishi L200. Low mileage for a monster like that, barely run in :)

  12. only need a run around. love old corrodo;s but not going to pic up one of those low miles cheap ins. mitsubishi no thanks. mrs would kill me.:)

  14. Why in the name of sanity would you spend four bags on a winter beater of doom?

    My mate Ken is selling his F plated Volvo 340DL in 1400 variomatic flavour.
    He's looking for about £750.
    Failing that I know of a nice* FX-4 for £300.
