The chap who welded my beetle did this when he changed the frame head Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I’ll be following this one with interest. Next on the project list for me is a baja build so will be good to see the guts of a bug. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The repro framehead is only 1.5mm thick steel vs 2-2.5 for the original. I just repaired mine and fitted a new bottom panel which was nice thick steel but still not a perfect fit.
I was looking to day at that and thought the same its only the bit you see the rest is solid so i think I will copy you and just replace bottom and hat part
Just a small up date stripped both doors down as beyond repair i have one new door, just need drivers door now.
Stripped the rest of the pan down just the frame head needs some repair the rest is like new underneath the spine it been underseald. But will need to get some new torsion bar rubber caps so not bad for a car thats been sat in a farmer's field or 20 years then sat in someone's workshop for 3 years .was told that the village butcher bought 2 of them brand new and gave one to his daughter and son to learn to drive in. An my one he drove it with his wife all round the word.
Cheaper and any of them are avalibale apart from some 67 panels and bits but il just convert them. How's your day off .
Went to work so a bore! Off to cinema tonight to see a quiet place though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Have a good time m8 not to many sweets or you won't sleep and you need to be up early tomorrow to catch up
I did a 67 1500 in the 90s and loved it. Does it still have the H code gearbox? you also have the wrong door popper on the drivers door... the original narrow long bonnet chrome strip took me years to find.. Amazing cars thanks to Heinz Nordhoff and only 100,00 made. even the quarter light catches and lock mechs are different.. I could go on...
