Great choice. We've camped in France for twenty years and this site is one of he best we've ever stayed in. It's a stunning natural environment, really laid back even in August, and a contrast to many sites around LaPalmyre which can be a bit mad peak season.
That is a long time ,you should have bought a house.. First two weeks in September and you get the beach to yourselves...
bonjour thought I would kick this off again... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-Jean-d'Angély This place is next to the river and large park ,lots of bike rides etc.. you can fish on the lake or river... or play in a canoe this is the lake/park table tennis and lots to keep the kids busy also over the road is a big swimming pool /sports center with two pools ,slides ,etc etc also in the park "free camping " for freeloaders my favourite place ,if you like tree's St John is also great for supermarkets and great place to make a pitt stop... Plus @someone lives close by...
Hello Todays adventure is La Rochelle / Ile de Re... The municipal car park in La Rochelle is VERY well signposted you cannot miss it ,it is quite near the city center and a very pleasant walk through a park/ canal to get there... One of the first things you see is the irish pub ... The site is pretty basic water /toilet but free ... If you like biking , there is a lovely cycle track to The Ile de Re ,it used to be a euro to take your bike over the bridge ,but now it is free... (18 euros in your camper...) as soon as you finish the bridge , there is a kiosk with free map of the island... The island is quite nice (for cyclists) with very good bike lanes and little villages with resturaunts etc ,to go from La Rochelle to the edge of the island is about 80 km (no hills)... Nice for a day out ,I enjoyed it...
Yes thar right, just texted Mrs TW been grid locked gave up went to Rocheffort to find it a nightmare as well ( bloody holidaymakers ) so they now very happy. I at home in warmth and dry.
I stayed at a camp site nor La Rochelle where there are lots of oysters. A waiter told Sarah off for ordering well done steak. I had mine medium so was ok I shall try and remember other places we stayed in France. Sadly when we spent months in the van we weren't really computery and social media wasn't yet invented, and our camera and lap top got nicked living in Spain so lost our photos
We've been put right ordering a red with fish dishes, us Brits know nothing sent from the Charente-Maritime
@moderators this is a information post , not the day to day ramblings of simple folk ,please remove all unnecessary ramblings...
This place just down the coast from Royan... Just left of the tree's are 40 parking spaces for motorhomes ,with a sea view... In summer this place is very busy ,come in March or September to have le plage to yourselves ,the toilets are in the middle of the duel carrageway ,some are the squat bogs... If you want a campsite 5 minutes away ,this one is nice.... http://www.bois-soleil.com/PRESENT_GB.htm
