How long is a piece of string? Depends how much prep and what finish you want. Budget between £1000 and £10k
Last month I got quoted £350 per panel and the guy said I had 12 panels including the roof. That was with me preparing it as much as I could and him finishing the prep. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Roughly this /\ assuming usual scenario.. 2 colours, windows out, doors painted inside, into the door shuts etc.
Be careful Agreed but the majority of sprayers are pi$$ poor and pretty clueless in my limited experience . Recommended by a couple of `aquaintances` , this friend of theirs bought out a local sprayshop and started running it , keeping the old staff as they were `gems mate` we`ll sort it - 3 grand , ten for a show finish ... I did prep to a certain level expecting them to finish it off but they didn`t . Half propping up the roof with 10 inch lengths of 4x2 didn`t help either , that was their answer because the oven wasn`t high enough to fully lift the roof . I asked them to use 2 pack so they didn`t need to use the oven , they used cellulose and warped the friggin` roof ... OK , so it was 3 grand , but that`s still 3 grand for minor prep and a $hitty blow over . I got off lightly , could`ve paid the full 10 k and they`d still have warped the roof in the oven .. Many other issues mainly down to lack of care and i ended up spending another grand getting someone else to sort out their $hit ... Only conserlation on my part is that he paid 100 k for the business and a year down the line it`s on it`s knees - tough luck ... mate Arseholes abound - be careful out there .
Good painters and paint shops are hard to come by, the prep is 99.9 of the overall final finish it can take over a month of preparing and painting a van so if someone can do it in a couple of days beware. I’ve seen many that look good from a distance , but give it a year the rust bubbles reappear . The trouble is the experience painters are retireing and painting looks easy but is far from, best of luck
I paid 5.5k, quote attached. It took a long time to find a decent painter loads of people tuned their nose up at it being a full respray. The bus went in mainly bare metal apart from the roof. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
That`s excellent and how it should be done , everything laid out and above board . In hindsight i should have ignored the bull$hitters who put me onto their mate and found someone decent , who didn`t insist on a handshake and cash .... A true lesson on taking your time and getting it right
You are asking about cost of a new paint job. I would be interested to hear why you feel new paint is necessary as splashing 5k would be a big risk and clearly its easy to get stung. Do you have some pics of the van to post up.
The paint to me is the final step in a 4 or 5 year project. I sort of prefer the 57 shades of white as I don't want to worry about every scratch !!!!!
We've usually gone down the self prep route. A self prep job is probably the most economical way to spray a bus if you can find a company local to you that offers that service. Unfortunately my mate who did self prep sprays has recently died and we're struggling to find another. The last van he did for me cost £225 inc paint.
Where are you? I know a brilliant painter if your localish. Not the cheapest but you’ll struggle to find better.
