bigger pistons - more advance bigger dek - more advance tighter deck - less advance richer mixture - more advance not just at max advance. Pity you're not local, I would take you for a drive at say 2,000rpm and let you advance/retard the timing without telling me and observe the van speed up/slow down yourself.

Apparently that is only on 1498 casings with the 14r cadmium bearings , So with that in mind the difference is so minuscule that even the experienced engine builder can’t really tell the difference apparently and hasn’t caused any of the problems you say
