Actually I think the monarchy plays an important rôle in stabilizing the country. The pageantry is for the tourists but it really does go deeper than that.

it is a shame, but his behaviour didn’t happen in her 95th year. It occurred 20+ years ago when, 2 of her 3 sons were “ men behaving badly “ and the third was trying to cash in by promoting celebrity / royal “ It’s A Knockout “. She or Philip or the establishment should have got a grip then.

The only acts the monarchy has displayed to “ unite “ the country seems to be the deaths and funeral services for Diana and Philip. I am not anti Royalist but …bloody hell they don’t do anything proactively meaningful.
