Hold on...I've just measured Chips and it's the 255mm one part number 211-827-401-A...shortie...pics coming.. Edit, what year is your bus @Adrian1975
Well the odd thing is is that the longer one, 211827401, is up to 1971 model year only. What's different between yours and Chips? I haven't compared side to side pics yet. Too busy typing lol
AHH, mystery solved. So you need the A suffix for 1974. I've been scratching my head using 2 phones to compare the pics lol. The only real difference was that Chips stay is flipped round so you don't catch your arm or head on the ends of the springy bit. Genuine are still available I think...
Nice one @MorkC68 ...your superb pics encouraged some mid week techendering The gift that keeps on giving..
I did too..the spade connecters on the horn came loose, replaced and sorted! Glad you enjoyed the pics
So you need the 255mm one then? And fit the right way round so it doesn't skin you when you take the battery out - check out Bus Monkey's 1968 bigger lid (I think) and opens higher?
With the repro one it made a good coffee mug holder, but to actually do an in the engine bay, I’m glad I found and refitted the original
Wouldn’t surprise me, definitely seems a bit of a bit a bitza van, until I changed them, the cab doors had different hinges, one early and one late, but looked original as they were both blue on the inside (Neptune blue from the factory) but Marino yellow and white outside (Devon conversion paint). Correct or not, it’s the one we got in 1991 when Dad bought the van.
