  1. Anyone else got a hose pipe ban yet
Apparently there is one in Hampshire from 5 August

Not in Derbyshire as yet. It’s been a bit rainy overnight. Typically it rained yesterday when we were on boat painting duty

Yes in the West Midlands they are doing repairs to the system in the Elan valley dams so we have been restricted since the beginning of the summer

  4. Not here in damp North West - lots of rain over the last week.

  5. South East Water have sent us 2 letters over the last 2 weeks, first saying they are desperately low on water and asking folks to reduce water consumption, second to say the water pressure would be less now and it is. We are waiting for the hose pipe ban to come in, won't be long now. Desperate for rain here.

I clearly remember our water rates went up an alarming amount around ten to fifteen years ago , reason given was to build an infrastructure so that the need for standpipes will never be again . Who do i ask for a refund please. ?

Lots of trees around Leicester are stressed out and shedding leaves. It's like autumn!

We have had a little bit of rain in the last day or two, but nowhere near enough

It was after 1976. Water companies got planning permission for reservoirs, never built them and loads more houses now... oh dear.

Same here in Notts, just got back from camping & it was almost autumn like with dead leaves falling. It’s raining now so hopefully it’ll water the trees and plants & restore them a bit.

Should I be expecting a letter in the post? No one’s mentioned it round here yet, but I’m sure it’s a possibility, can’t remember the last time we had anything more than a few drops of rain. June maybe?

  14. Southern Water have muttered about it, starting Aug 5th. Just in time for torrential rain...

  15. Barnsley has had a hosepipe ban since 1956.

  17. Unfortunately the amount of (short-term) rain one area gets has very little bearing on whether one that lives in said area gets a hosepipe ban.

The question I've been meaning to ask is "what are the consequences if you ignore a hosepipe ban (apart from being bullied on social media)?"

  18. Apparently down here in Kent according to Southern Water we are " water stressed" I do wish they would talk properly.
