I have a 3/4 R&R bed with fairly hard seats/vinyl covers. Any recommendations for a mattress topper gratefully received. Thanks David
Buy a memory foam 50mm topper off the bay get a sharp knife and a tape measure take the cover off and cut the mattress to fit then trim and sew Up the cover to fit back on the topper, Job’s a good un
A composite foam in your seating would achieve the same and save dragging a topper around/putting it "somewhere" when the bed is in seat mode. Worth the effort I reckon, a mattress topper is an unwieldy thing in the confines of a camper.
Looking at my old original Devon seat cushions it looks like they were designed so you flipped them over, then they had a flat and softer back to lie on. One idea for packing away is to look at some of the self inflating sleeping pads you can buy- a piece of foam inside an air bag- release valve, foam expands. Shut valve, and it acts as a piece of springy foam would. Open valve, roll up tightly for storage.
Thanks for the ideas and suggestions I won’t want to dismantle my existing seats but something not too thick may mean that I hopefully can store it in the pop top even when down. I’ll check out the duvalay- having now read that memory foam traps heat and I get hit enough as it is… Thanks all
Our duvet and topper stays in place when laid out just gets folded in half over the engine then rock and roll the seat as normal
I recall they actually do some sort of cool version at a premium price though. we went with a normal 2.5 and its pretty good.
A those Thermarests? We’ve got a couple from when we camped. I’ve got a mattress topper and a blanket above the mattress, which is full width. This is mainly due to my partner who thinks she’s princess and the pea
We store a mattress topper in our pop top but be aware that those clever folk at westfalia did consider air flow and drying out of condensation in the roof when designing the pop top - yes a mattress topper fits but it takes the small amount of space between the bed folded back and the actual flocked roof away so if a tiny bit damp from sleeping and breathing up there then you will get the inevitable mold and damp issues if not completely dry when roof is in down position. We have to make sure we dry roof completely before storing van or not using roof for a while or pull the topper down when we put van away for a while
