Been looking at beetles for a while, after driving @the 3 crispies bug and also doing a Subaru swap on another, This 1500 69 Beetle turned up locally with most of the hard work done, new pans, heater channels, and other localised repairs, 4 new Day Moulding’s wings, new front/rear valances to make it look pre 67, it’s pretty much complete with loads bits which came with it. Bought a few of the missing bits for it now, long bonnet, US spec bumpers, early fuel tank, and also had the engine running. Main thing that needs doing is to get some epoxy primer on the bare metal bits for now, as it’s been sitting in a heated garage for the last 4 years since welding, so faired well, and then put it in the queue behind the bay, and other jobs I’ve got on! Small progress update…Some precarious jacking to get the body off the pan and onto a trolley, stripped and prepped the floor pan, made a rotisserie to make life easy, and now the pan is into some Jotun epoxy mastic paint, still to seam-seal and topcoat it in some black and Upol’s Raptor once the epoxy has gone off more.
Overdue update…will fill in the details after… Raptor on, about 6 litres in total, thinned and applied with a 2.2 cap gun for a smooother finish, looks more like powder coat.
