That's great, thank you! I agree, the Fiamma ones look fab (my best mate has had one for years on her T4) but I'm realistic about what I can afford right now. Is it a 'pull out' and 'wind in' affair, with the side poles clipping in once it's extended? I am very seriously considering pressing the BUY button.....
And the canopy does not need stowing away, possibly wet, inside the van is another plus. Not to mention stopping it raining in through the sliding door and the patch of shelter of course. Don't know about the bag ones you're looking at but mine can be unrolled any distance. I've been known to only extend it 1m or so.
it’s all in a bag mounted on the van You unzip it and unroll the canvas it has a solid front and 4 poles that are already attached. 2 of the adjustable poles are the legs the other 2 hook back onto bracket on the van and you adjust the poles to tension the canvas as the legs are adjustable I tend to have one shorter so that any rain runs off that corner The Fiamma has the advantage that you don’t have to have the whole thing out as well as the easy of just winding it out. hope that makes sense
Same principle as a Moo-Cow when stood sideways on a hill, they have adjustable legs, designed to work either left hand side or right hand side..paired as well the designer was ahead of his game
We’ve got the Fiamma roll out rather than wind out, sure it was only a couple of hundred quid eBay bargain. Neat, solid , easy to use, cheaper than wind out which isn’t really necessary on these busses because you can easy reach gutter height!
That explains my major concern perfectly , stowing the awning back into the zip up bag .... Easy as - just buy it Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
One of your major gripes with your current set up is that it now collects water, the guy on the video highlights that as one of its drawbacks. Do any of the others have a ridge pole to prevent this?
Buy it, buy it, buy it!! Then when it’s put on at TE’s I can park next to you and use it as my own personal area too
I had a basic set up of a lightweight canopy and fixed length poles so bought a couple of extendable clothes props to adjust the height and pitch. These are from Dunelm.
There are copy’s of the arb one about Sarah but I’ve no personal experience of them Apparently the parts are interchangeable with the arb ones on some copies Zeds would be perfect for you and the dog if you could get your head around the colour It’s not all green but green and white stripes if memory serves correctly His comes with the extra accessories as well
Yep, it's from NLA VW and to be fair is a decent bit of kit. It's also a good advert for the rubber moulding that holds it to the gutter, there's no clamps involved The canvas was waterproofed by me using Fabsil so that works too
Your picture brought some fond forgotten memories back from camping as a kid. I remember sitting in the frame tent through a rainstorm playing by cards with my sister and parents. We ended up with a simaler bulge inside the tent My dad was standing up every ten mins or so pushing the bulge with a broom to drain the water off. When the sun came out my dad sent me the daft bugger I was to go and check round the side of the tent for pegs pulled out Yup you guessed it I’m bent over checking pegs as my dad pushes the large puddle of water so it goes all over me. Thanks for bringing that memory back
