Available from just kampers 10/10 http://www.justkampers.com/shop/reverse-light-fitting-kit-j10511.html cost £21.00 very easy to fit, just need to fit the sender into the gearbox take a wire from the switch to + of coil and then from sender to lights and all works
does this work on auto's? i only ask as i have 2 black wires in the area of the rear lights which don't seem to have power to them when any light is on i wondered if they were originally for reverse? my m-code stated fog lights was an option on my van but i see no switch or evidence of how fog lights could be fitted.....
sadly i'm not there, i mentioned on another thread (maybe on the old site) i was out all friday and don't get home until saturday 2am at the earliest, - i contacted them and begged to buy a one night camp as i would not be there until at least lunch on the sat and then leave sunday early enough to be home for the grand prix, they said no so i said bluuurghh then.
tickets are £15 on gate for camping according to their site. we're travelling with a couple paying on the gate
I recieved the kit the other day and intend to fit it at the weekend, to save me some time can you point me to the exact place on the gear box to look for to screw in the switch, thanks
Left side of gearbox towards the front, there is a blanking plug fitted, just remove plug and screw in switch assy. Tony
hailfrank VW also wired it from the coil but with a fuse a few inches up the wire...Didn't they supply an in-line fuse with the kit?
Anyone doing this - fit a fuse! Also check you haven't already got the bulbholders - most buses have. Then all you need is the switch, some wire and some spade terminals.
Yep the wiring / bulb holder / bulb and inline fuse are present just not connected to any switch etc so I'm going to look at installing that this week now I know where I'm looking for the place for the switch. Beats me why VW thought it was worth saving the couple of quid it must have been to install the full thing, especially given they made rear lenses with the clear portion and often installed everything but the switch!
my switch was there already, wire wrapped round chassis hanging down, one bulb holder was there too, so only some wire, inline fuse and one holder needed. The standard bulb holders dont fit some aftermarket light clusters as I found out. A bit of cutting and filing sorted that out. I used these CREE 7W Q5 LEDs when I did mine, nice and bright 400 Lumens at only 7W. I also wired to the battery instead of coil so I can use them to illuminate behind when camping without the ignition on. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271115153019?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Watch out for the switch the end should be slightly rounded I have had a couple in the kits that have a square end this stops you from getting into reverse
Been there a few times, often everythings there but the spade to the fuse isn't on the coil. I bet you've got bulbs as well?
