The ones who never made it back

  1. Oh, ok, so they were installed wrong. The bus also looks lowered which probably helped them bottom out. i would still have thought they were too tough to snap out. guess not.
I like to gather information about breakdowns so I can better prepare for the unexpected and pack spares for trips.

I was getting around to this - still one more trailer ride to go though.....

On our way from Verwood to Moreton-in--the-Marsh we started popping pretty badly, then came the judders, then came the loss of power, managed to crawl into a shaded layby - which was good because it was 35 degrees and we were there for 4 hours.

First recovery vehicle took Wombat to Basingstoke where we picked up a loan car to drive home. 4 hour drive with a bad back :(

Apparently Wombat went to Brighton for the next day and then came home on a rather large vehicle the next day.

Too big to go up our road so unloaded in the main road - wouldn't start because the battery had gone flat - took battery out of the Pickup (did I mention my back?) and tried that. Still no start.
@Flakey was coming over to have a look at the problem for me and turned up at just the right moment, so Wombat was now towed up to our house using my handily placed Defender.

your fault for painting it that silly colour, never broke down when i had it - and i had a lot more carp in than you lol. i know a man with a lovely T5 for sale, air con, cruise, power steering, all the toys - you'd probably sell that silly old van and get some change.

It worried the neighbors when the guy unhooked it and drove forward to get the others off. Front end was stoved in a tad. I think they thought he was leaving it :)

    image.jpeg Hi all
Just so as not to be left out we had our first break down.we were on the way to dubs in the valley, just passed junction 13 on the m6 ,when the radio went off popped and smoked engine cut out, great fun four lanes no hard shoulder.
Police arrived in an unmarked Beamer told us highways agency would tow us off!
Fat chance closed motorway to tow us 300 feet and abandoned us in the refuge ,joke was it was one mile to exit.
RAC arrived towed us to Hollies truck stop,we then waited five hours to be relayed home.
