Not sure which to use. I want to do the floor inside the bus in white and I was thinking of the Signal Yellow Rustoleum for the underside as it's pretty close to the yellow of the bottom half of the body. Then again I could go for white underneath too. I've never used Rustoleum so have no idea what it's like. Will it stick to existing paint OK? Is the brushed finish OK? Smoothrite should be OK I think though I've never used the white - did my buggy floor pans in black. Anyone had experience with Rustoleum or both? Opinions please people.
Do you ever sleep, Mark ? Go for Rustoleum mixed to Pastel White. Avenue Coatings in Slough will mix you some. Thin it a bit with white spirit and use a good brush. Minimal prep: use rust stabiliser if you must, key the paint with Scotchbrite, degrease with panel wipe and brush it on. Super stuff. I’d avoid Hammerite unless you’re spraying it from a can. Once it’s on, you won’t be able to paint over it, as it reacts with other paint types. God knows what they put in it.
^whs^ Hammerite is a pain to paint over unless you want special crackle glaze type shabby chique finish..... Rustoleum easy to use with a normal or foam brush
Rustoleum. Never used it before but by jimminy it's good stuff ... Straight out the tin , no thinners and it was very easy to apply . Needed 2 coats but even an oaf like me was surprised with the results-a fine product .. Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk
Thank you folks. Resounding victory for Rustoleum then. Will their standard white be OK for inside and underneath? Don't think mine is pastel - the body has been resprayed and it probably isn't anywhere near original. Insomnia rules @snotty
Yep, agree with all of the above, I did my wheels, bumpers, and the cab floor under the rubber mat with rustoleum. Mixed a bit of their off white (heirloom I think) into the standard gloss white just to take the blinding whiteness away, bit of thinners, brush it on after minimal prep. Bob’s yer Uncle, Fanny’s yer Aunt. It’s not a concourse job, but nor is the rest of the bus!
Another vote for Rustoleum. Only ever had zero success with Hemaphrodite, couldn't tell who was supposed to do what and where to whom quite honestly...
I’m not sure any form of hermaphrodite usage is going to be of much benefit to your camper @Moons, and could well cause you problems in the future. Best only use hermaphrodites when there’s no second option.
That looks great Point worth mentioning with Rusto is that is does take a while to go off in my experience. I'd say a week for reasonably hard, a month for full hardness. Also, as it's solvent-based enamel, I'd think it would soften if you spilt something like petrol on it. Apart from that, super stuff.
Yep , i painted the floor a couple of weeks ago so the lock-up was bloody cold - took 3-4 days before i felt confident enough to get on with the sound deadening , that`s unthinned by the way ...
Agreed - I was pleasantly surprised but applying it unthinned probably helped .. Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk
