Motorway driving is ace, regardless of what you are driving. If a vehicle can keep up with the lorries doing 56, then surely it's no more of a problem than a lorry. It's the BMW company rep types that need to be banned.
We regularly used to run the M27 M3 and M25 back to my folks. Quite good fun! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree, but I'm basically my bus's "crumple zone" and the thought of being in an artic/bus/artic sandwich is enough make me avoid motorways in it. I do wonder how a switch to driverless is going to work ... The period when you've got both autonomous and driven all in there together is surely going to be a tricky one? (Cue the gag about the phased change to LHD)
Iz you za guess star poo . I vil IN za futyour it tis in evit able , zay vont letz old geets on za roadz Init bruvz , sankz forz yourz concernz , you ok up in za norfz ?
Had great drive in the bus a year back M11 M25 M2, Dover Dunkirk Ferry then motorway Autobahn to Putgarden, ferry to Rodby then autobahn to Copenhagen. Just fast enough to overtake a truck on the autobahn but had to watch for speedy Audis Merc and Porche drivers. Loved it
I’ve done 7k miles in my 24 year old diesel T4 this summer. Less than 1000 of them on motorways. I didn’t miss it!
Perhaps the idea of a motorway ban Is to coincide with MOT exemption That in itself is going create a fair amount of unroadworthy vehicles if the owners can't be rrst They don't give you nowt for nowt And there are thousands of classic cars Running around Maybe a hidden agenda to get the numbers down
So if I still have to have an MOT having a substantially modified camper then perhaps I'll still be allowed on the motorway.
If it wasnt for the mobile phone companies pushing a high tech agenda to make people use expensive tech 4G, we could already have vehicle to vehicle comms using little more than a GPS tracker and a little computer and a radio that links directly to nearby cars, warning other vehicles what your vehicle is doing. Like travelling slower than their Volkswagen-Tesla computer thinks you are.. Something you could retro fit to a bus.
I don't know how good the kit is nowadays but effectively this is what we used to try and do on a warship and the picture would be linked to other ships. There was always problems, given the volume of tracks that there would be on the road would be interested to see if this could be done with any accuracy. Perhaps technology has changed that much since the 90s.
why alter the cars when they could turn all motorways into travelators? no engines needed (enter motorway, turn engine off and put feet up) thus reducing emissions and they could be powered by solar/wind or Umpa Lumpa's. no accidents, zero motorway emissions and well-rested lorry drivers
The Dartford Tunnel and Queen Elizabeth II bridge are not part of the M25, they're the A282. Not a motorway
You can get to the Dartford Crossing at non-motorway junctions on either side: South side: to/from the A2, the A296, the A206. North side: to/from the A1306 and the A13.
