What paint code for the white half?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by DubDan, Jun 18, 2019.

  1. Afternoon all,

    I have a 1979 Danbury conversion bay.
I’ve found the plate that says that the van was originally all orange and gives me the paint code E1 E1 to show this.

How can I find out the paint code of the top that has been painted white when it was converted by Danbury?

    Many thanks

  2. think a lot are pastel white L90D but there are a few other whites it could be... more folk will be along soon :)

  3. looks like as mentioned above. Perhaps a company near you that mixes car paints could help and make up a touch up can?

  4. It looks like Pastel white.

To me that looks like Pastel White.
Halfords sells cans of that colour as it has been used more recently by VW, but the older version is more blue and later versions like Halfords seem a bit yellower.
If your bus has been resprayed I expect the Halfords stuff would work.

Also for touch up paint or mixed the keyword on the Halfords system is Pastelweiss. They couldnt find Pastel White...

  6. Your best option is to take the van into your local auto paint supplier, they will scan it and mix to that.

Iain McAvoy and paradox like this.
  7. I would try a local paint factor, mine is top notch and us able to get almost perfect matches and makes cans up to order.

  8. Take the sliding door track cover to a automotive paint supplier that has a spectrometer
They will be able to scan it and mix you an exact match.
