I recently bought an A3 copy of this 1969 Devon ad, plus a frame, on eBay, it now looks cool in the hallway.

Big Mistake, Mrs D now wants an awning like that. We have a big drive away awning that came with the van, but if I'm only staying somewhere for a night I really couldn't be bothered to put it up.

There are plenty of simple ones that clip on the gutter, but not with sides like that, which she thinks are essential so she isn't sat in a breeze. I like the shape as rain will run off the top, also the originality appeals to me.

It's surprising that no one makes a replica, if they could make them in 1969 they could make them now.

I got given one , used it for a few trips then got something lighter and not as bulky , needless to say i regretted selling it (£60 on ebay:rolleyes:) and have been looking for another for the last 25 years but no joy .
They were made by MOTENT (Harrogate ??) and very good quality (blue) canvas was supported by a tubular frame - basic bit of kit but a very well designed awning . I too am surprised there`s nobody making them these days , especially as retro is apparently sooo cool .

    Happy hunting
