Another subaru conversion

  1. Hi all, I recently purchased a ej20 subaru engine and bits from Ian Jones and I'm dry fitting it up and I have already hit some snags:(. 1. The Fellows engine bar won't fit with the exhaust? The cotton reel mount is touching the exhaust manifold without the bar attached. ( I think I have it in the right place)
    2. The underbelly radiator is fouling in a few areas, one of the brackets can't go in because of the servo pipe, one of the fans is right up against the handbrake cable pipe and the small pipe that come out of the side which I believe goes back to the expansion tank ( I could be wrongo_O) is right up against the metal tube that house's the wiring loom? Any help and ideas will be greatly appreciated :). 20221128_144823.jpg 20221128_144823.jpg 20221128_143552.jpg

@MR SAM HODSON might be able to assist as he installed a Scooby engine quite recently.

MR SAM HODSON and LightningMcQ like this.
  4. And looking on the old interweb should the rad be the otherway round in the scoop?

if you search through Sam's posts, he did quite a detailed install thread

  6. Can the fan be moved across or offset so that the highest part of the fan is over a bit more ? The small pipe on the rad is not on the fellows rad so my initial plan was to just blank it off.

  7. Which way round have you got the rear rad brackets L facing up or down ?

  8. The rear ones are down I believe? I will have another look tomorrow, you know how it is I'm trying to get this done and my normal work at the sane time:) and my brain is not in my normal work:D

  9. I bent the handbrake carrying conduit up about 5mm to allow fitment... I have seen other people shim the radiator down a little at the front to catch more air too..so you could fit a spacer and just drop it a few mm
