You should go for green with gold pin stripe to really ruffle some feathers!

  2. So what are your plans for the interior - surely a micro camper?

Mine was a late K plate model which i used as an everyday motor . But then it was only 8 years old when i was running around in it ...there was plenty still knocking around for normal use . I had a 1966 saloon and a 1970 van which rotted away and used for spares for the K plate .
It ended up going to a painter and decorator guy who had it all sign written in his business name .

Another step closer to Henry coming home (before Christmas? Do I dare to dream??)
We have the start of an engine build-up....
An upgraded crank (apparently it's got some type of rear end sleeve that means it doesn't leak everywhere), some kind of special timing chain that is bomb proof (apparently), and lots of green paint.

    It's all very exciting!

    Yes apparently so.

*I have no idea! But thanks for the confirmation that it's good :)
The idea of a 'racey' Morris Traveller makes me smile!

  10. Many moons ago I knew a guy who had a Tupperware Moggy, a bit of a rat looker.
With a race tuned 3.5 V8 and auto box.
Made for some very strange looks as he left boy racers standing at traffic lights :D

  14. I would say taller, given the flatter nature of the usual stuff on here :)

Tiny little dolly-steps in the right direction, although my dream of having Henry back and driving him on Christmas Eve has wafted away in the ether...

The engine and gearbox are reunited

    0027.jpg

and it all actually finds itself back in the engine bay!

    0028.jpg

although it seems connecting the clutch cables etc underneath is proving troublesome as the mechanic now has a hernia and a couple of ruptured discs.
I'm sure I could do it, under his watchful eye and instruction? But not this side of Christmas.
And apparently the replacement rear door seal that I thought we ordered about 4 months ago has been delivered. But no one knows where. That'll be Hermes or Yodel then! It's probably somewhere safe, like in next door's dustbin or on top of a shed roof.

    Maybe by New Year?

A great engine ..the simplicity of them is very appealing compared to the aircooled buddys . Very very easy to work on the engine when in situ ...no banging your head when the bonnet opens up practically up to the sky .
Great motor Sarah, you are making me want one again .
I had a white van when i first dated Caroline ...maybe it was the van that appealed to her .

    Well, that didn't happen
But the rear door seal has turned up and so hopefully that should stop the exhaust fumes circulating around and inside!
New fuel pump fitted as the old one required gentle hammer tapping to get it to do it's thang when the engine was finally fired up.
That's got to be it now, right?
Just connect up the bits underneath, test drive, and we're home?
Next weekend. 'onest guv, next weekend.

When I was 18 my best mate had a 1000 and was in the owners club. 3 of us decided it would be a good idea to go to the European meeting in Paris :gnome:
Lost count how many were there.
Trying to sleep in the back of a 3 door isn't one of the best places to be.
I remember him finding the biggest hill he could and managing to get the needle to hit 90 going down it :D
