  1. Why do you do that stuff gluey ?
You pop one up … and then you disappear nipper

    At risk of ridicule.
I have a 1641 single port with 009 distributor ( no vacuum ) oil bath air intake and Pertronix ignition .good leads.
I don’t perceive any flat spot at all ……although if it’s all flat I may not notice. She starts like a dream, runs well 100,s of miles at a time. Not punchy but happy up hills and at 50 -55 mph generally. She does about 23- 28 mpg fully loaded with trailer. No oil loss.
    Q. Where am I going wrong.?
Seriously though , should I consider a 123 distributor , what may I gain or should I count my blessings?

Good luck with that, last time I was there he didn't know how vacuum advance works (he thought it added 10 degs at WOT and my engine would blow up on his rollers) and wanted to disconnect it "because 009's are better".

I know but I keep reading about 009’s being **ap and mine hasn’t even got a vacuum….so from that level of low esteem I’m hit with a suggestion of a 123.
I am happy with my lot but if there is a simple improvement I’m all ears !

  8. My low level of esteem has forced me to buy twin carbs.
I think I would have been happy with just the 123's improved drivability, but we shall see...
The twin carbs sound much better, and I am told they are much better too.

  9. just turned mine back about 4 degrees now I don’t get that happening

  10. They are. You’ll be getting rid of that horrible t-shaped manifold.

A 123 will also make you tanned, muscular and sexually attractive

  11. Not if you get the green wire come off you won’t, like mine did today
Why don’t they make it so it comes out easily,
You pay all that money and it’s rubbish  I wouldn’t buy another

  17. Ah… the spare wires go direct to the metal bob cap, this must be worn by the driver!

I’ve got 009 with no vac advance and points too. No perceived flat spots , starts great and accelerates strongly.

I’ll go for the vac advance if anything goes wrong, just to see
