Air Awning

  1. Hi everyone, just did a search on awnings and air awnings with no results, which surprised me. My awning is a pain to put up and down, so I was thinking air awning, anyone had any success or failures with these types of awnings?

I’ve got a beast of a vango air. Not put it up yet though!

  3. So you not used it yet?

Nope. I was away working most of last summer and now obviously all the sites are closed. It’s still in its bag!

  5. Yeah I get that, what made you choose that model? sorry for the interrogation.

I had a choice of any Vango awning foc so went for this one as it seemed to suit what we wanted.

it looks like a top bit of kit but as I said it’s yet to come out if it’s bag. One thing to note is it is phenomenally heavy!

If you don't want a massive village hall to put up ... We have a Kampa Travel Pod Action that went up to the point in this photo (no guy ropes done properly) in five minutes. Main thing seems to be packing it away so that it's not a puzzle to work out next time.
There are various sizes of Kampa Travel Pod, with different last "names".
    Well made.
This one would.have been around £400 new.
    We bought it 2nd hand)

  9. How come you had a choice of any FOC?

  10. You need to consider how you will use it.

I had a quick erect khyam something sleeper, it was great but just far too big for my needs.

It was in a massive bag that got in the way when awning wasn't put up if only one night at a site.

Eg on Mull, put it up on first site for 3 nights, then stayed different places every other night, so didn't put the awning up and it just got in the way.

    How do you camp?

  12. Hi Paul, like Dub and Dubber, I don't want anything big, just small and easy and fast to put up and take down, hence the air awning idea.

  13. Cheers Gooders.

  14. Check out khaym for quick erect awnings with poles.

Air awnings, usual makers like vango, but also check out decathlon who do one for 200 quid.

Factor in the size of a pump

  15. Cheers Paul will do.

  17. How are you all attaching these to the van? C channel or magnetic?

    C channel. Magnetic is crap.

Used to use poll & clamp

  19. How did you find the poll and clamp method?
