We were camping under canvas and had a fabulous time at Buckhurst. It was a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and the owner was lovely. A nice mix of people - young families, a few youths having a covid-19 birthday parties/post-exam jollies, older people. Dogs are allowed, as are open fires - you can buy logs and firelighters at the office. Toilet block and showers were good.

The site is over 2 fields with hookup available nearer to the building. There are no set pitches, so it's easy to camp with friends. Quiet time is 11pm but until then a bit of noise is fine. It's a lovely relaxed site and if you get a clear sky the stars are spectacular.

The site is on a slight slope, so levelling blocks might be needed. Ground is firm and not stony, slightly rough but well mown. I had a bit of fun getting our rock pegs out again, normal wire pegs would have been sufficient.

The site got slightly smoky in the evening, as there is always someone who struggles to get the fire going :) It's not really a problem though unless you are especially sensitive

We did see a nicely restored splitty amongst the various camper vans. It's a really nice place to base yourself and is in easy reach of Hastings, Eastbourne and the surrounding area

Although just a long weekend, we had a lovely time and will definitely be going back
