http://www.dale.farm/ We'd heard good things about Dale Farm Rural Campsite nr Great Longstone via several sources so we booked a 3 night stay with them. It ought to have been great as it cost us £120 for the break. On arrival we was greeted by the warden who was really friendly and explained the layout, she showed us to our generously sized pitch and we settled in our terrace which gave us lots of space to spread out. Facilities always clean and spotless with a small farm shop and views over Derbyshire, stunning! The site was handy for walking the Monsall Trail, four pubs within easy walk too. We couldnt wait to explore!! Now I'm not one to give a bad review of any campsite but I'm not going to give kind words here, sadly but as said, the site itself is great. The tuesday night I came down with a bad stomach and was up all night ill, I'm still not great now but getting better. We took the decision to head home wednesday morning as it wasnt fair on the other guests so we called the phone number gave to us, no response, the warden was nowhere to be found so we figured we would talk to them when we got home and settled. In regards of us having two nights remaining with them, we asked them if there was any chance of moving the days later in september..not a chance as it would lead to a loss in guests / revenue. To be fair we did not want a refund as we wanted to go back, its a beautiful area to explore. Top and bottom, we should have travel insurance and get our money back from claiming on it. They are a small business and have to make a living (bearing in mind the site is pretty much full for the next few weeks) was there words.. They left us dissapointed.
