Evening people. Thought I’d get my posts rolling, I’m Ainsley, Not yet an owner but hopefully will be in the not too distant future. I’ve always loved old VW’s but due to money etc never had one. I think I got lucky and met someone who likes the Bay (hence being on here) and has been trawling the usual sites looking at them. No way would we be able to afford a fully restored one but in the hope we can find a running use-able project and do stuff bit by bit. Hopefully I’ll be on here asking for advice at some point.
Thanks all, I sure will. I’ve always found VW forums to be mostly helpful minus the odd one or two. Im quite hands so mechanical or minor works I’ll try do myself, just no good at welding or paintwork which seems to be the majority of work needed haha.. I’ll go for the “patina” look, always works out cheaper and I actually like it, worry less on where you actually park it lol

Morning all, I’m from Nottingham. When I come across one that takes my fancy I shall post a link and see if anyone knows anything about it or can take a poke at it for me, always good to have a second eye on it and from someone with more experience than myself. I’d happily give the going rate or some beer tokens.
Hi Ainsley, good luck with your search. You've definitely done the right thing coming here before parting with your money, I wish I had! Mine is a rolling restoration too - just starting on that journey now I have my new-to-me rust bus home finally.
