Great radio exchange at McLaren: "Remember to drink, Fernando." "I don't need a f----- drink!"

It just gets worse for McLaren and for Vandoorne, fuel problems.

Verstappens Super Soft tyres really do look stuffed.

And Alonso retires with fuel problems. :(

    McHonda isn't improving any.

McLaren now says it was a driveshaft problem.
Probably to help Honda save some face.

Tony Ross, Rosberg's race engineer for his entire career, messages Bottas: "Fourth position is still possible here Nic.... erm.. Valtteri" Old habits die hard!:D

    talking to yourself @Terrordales?!

Watched on C4+1 a few hours late. Seemed a better race than Oz, but i still dozed off having expended a lot of energy in the garden this morning!! chuckled at the Nico reference when I heard it!

More in the vain hope that another fan might have been watching. :(

I'm a terrestrial TV guy, but if I wasn't and the forecast was rain, possible delay, postponed start I'd have stayed in bed anyway!

I admit to having a pirate satellite dish, set up by the local supplier as a thank you for helping his girlfriend out after a bad fall skiing.

  11. I was watching the race and this thread, so that's 3 of us. Missed the radio references as watched in bed with sound off (Mrs Cheesy not a fan). Good to see 2 teams fairly evenly matched, and with the added bonus of Verstappen and a fairly good RB team too. Should be a close season.

  12. Yes it was a drive shaft problem. It wasn't being turned by the engine i suspect ;)

Listening to the BBC R5 review, they reckon the Williams may be on a par with the RB at the moment... that would be good to throw them into the mix too!

  14. Haha that was my first thought as well! There's a well known tale from the 60's (possibly an urban myth) about a car retiring with "electrical problems". Turned out these were caused by a piston and conrod shooting out the side of the block and taking the alternator with it:D

  15. i thought verstappen was epic - from so far back to get up to 3rd was an awesome drive.

That was Aussie driver Kevin Bartlett in his Camaro at Bathurst, it is a true story.

  19. Just seen Fernando Alonso is going to skip Monaco GP next month to race in the Indy 500:thumbsup:. Going to be driving a McLaren branded Andretti-Honda.

  20. Fair play to McLaren for letting him do that - pretty much sums up their own confidence in being able to give him a points scoring car at Monaco (ie they cant).
