  1. I never believed it until I swam in it in the mid 80's

  2. Great photos and write-up. Might consider simlar for next year as I am just about recovered from being traumatised by midges in Scotland 20 years ago.

Fantastic write up and pics. We did West of Scotland last year up as far as Oban. We need to do the islands at some point. @Cov1987 , Smidge is the stuff to keep the little buggers at bay

Great write up and photos. Sounds like a bloody ace trip Paul, and makes me think getting the van engine sorted and running sweet is very necessary.... this type of thing is what I bought it for! Next year the lake district and Scottish west coast for sure.
    Road trip!

  10. It's a fair old way for you South coasters, plan some stop overs enroute! It is amazing and even better if the weather is good.

  12. Looks really nice and a great review. After just getting back from 5 days away to Wales already thinking of the next trip, this could be a contender.

We've started planning places to visit next year when we do the NC500 for three weeks, this thread has added another potential location :D

Great post! I went to Arran 20 years ago in my MK2 Golf Driver and camped. Closest place to England to get a real flavour of Scotland - like the lowlands in the south and the highlands in the north of the island due to the fault line running through the middle.

I particularly recognise the campsite picture, so this is on the south eastern side of the island. I remember stoppy backs in the pub on the site. The landlord would literally go fishing and bring back lobsters and serve them up in the pub.

Just need to go there now in my Bay.

  20. Well I said we would try it in 2017 - unfortunately a heart by-pass got in the way. Thanks again for your original post Paul and the bump-
So now the target is definitely next year - something to look forward to and celebrate our Golden wedding anniversary year- unless we have sold the bus .
