Late bay Gti conversion

  1. Thanks for drawing my attention to this thread, it's a great read with some really handy tips.
My bay has 1.9 xud engine too which could do with an upgrade but you've shown me what's involved so think I'll stick with my 65bhp till a Tesla motor makes sense.
How's your one going now ??

  2. Nice to see an LSD. Think I've only ever seen a couple before.

  3. I read this entire thread earlier, very interesting, especially as I should have been getting Christmas stuff sorted.

Hope the bus is still going well?

  4. Thanks to the guys who have asked how the van is running, truth be told she hasn’t been on the road in anger in 18 months.

Covid not extension ran out June ‘20 and she’s only been started and driven back and forth since then.

2 years of breaking T25’s and converting a T5 to a camper has used all my free time.

Just about to start re-building a porch at home then it’s all systems go on the bay.

Plan is to get her out and Mot’d
Then go back to ‘standard’ 6 rib gearbox and bay linkage. Shakedown and make sure it’s all good.

Then take it all out and start welding as I’ve had the Schofield repair panels for 10 years now

New rear corners, window frame repairs, windscreen surround repairs and an os sill.

Along with whatever else I find, then paint could be a while before we go away in her again.
