Several times. Our friends pointed out that it might be worth sleeping with ya feet at that end! o_O

  4. There on sunday, couldn't believe how quiet it was. Enjoyed the day as i have a few buddies in the wolfsburg line up so good to catch up and chat.

Also good to meet up with @Lasty and @paul2590 also @Chrisd too.

Quality of the show cars inside was epic - the crew cab that won best of show was just fantastic but there were probably another 10 vehicles at that same level - just stunning. Also good to see that the best-of-show crewcab drove home after the show, so its not going to be a garage queen by all accounts.

It's fair to say that the lack of crowd did have its benefits, and I'm trying to think what spoilt the experience for me and how the organiser could make it better.

Good points were the diversity of vehicles, the shiny examples showing what can be done (with a high degree of geekism going on) and the swapmeet. Also bumping into fellow TLBers

Less good, not enough food, drink or fun activities to break the day up. Not having a TLBers area to talk ***** with for longer...bar?

Really bad, the PA loudmouth who droned on all day and ultimately made me leave early.

    Just my twopenny worth.

Yes. Very annoying. I know this from sleeping in the late westy pop top!

Stupidly, I've just sent a short note to Volksworld to give my feedback to them about my thoughts (see above) removing mentioning TLB but hopefully letting them know some thoughts about what we (me) would like to see.

  10. I haven't been for 10 years looks like I haven't missed much, not much here to encourage me next year.

    Good call Chris.

I may follow suit and give them some feedback.

I see Volksworld Camper & Bus magazine is now discontinued.

I wonder if Kelsey are in trouble with their VW portfolio ?

At least IPC media had a good relationship with the grass roots clubs. Back in the day Ivan and the others would wander round the club stands to say hi.

    This lot certainly don’t.

I feel the new "lifestyle" magazine is like Hayburner without the humour and knowledge. And it costs rather a lot more ..and I think they should have launched it 10 years ago when there were more people with more money than sense...
I would rather they had commuted my sentence ^H^Hsubscription from Camper and Bus to Volksworld mag . I think it's a mistake.

And the shouty git at Sandown was LOUD stupid annoying and repetitive.

But the cars were more interesting and varied, and there were more traders than the worst I have seen, when TLB last showed and walked out en masse on the Sunday.
Not too bad for £22 in the fringes of that wonderful London..
I would have had to have paid a lot more to be watching a rhinoceros trying to flip an annoying zebra in the paddock at Marwell Zoo for instance.

Imagine a truck nearly hitting a Ferrari by out accelerating it..

  14. Just a quick point about the traders mike .
I have a mate with a decent autojumble stall upstairs (10 years at VolksWorld) and a quick chat with Joe confirmed they were far from happy with Kelsey Media , being lied to about the advanced ticket sales "business as usual" "pre pandemic figures" etc etc ...
I also bought some carb gaskets from the Dutch refurb guy who was into a committed 3000 Euros before they even opened the stall - not happy ...

As for the "varied and interesting" cars inside , each to their own but i`d rather see a couple of proper blokes with proper dirt under their nails who`d done a resto on their drive that most of the inside bling who`d either made a one off to promote their business and/or just thrown money at a shell until it was transformed to their expectations . I was genuinely surprised at the number of info boards showing :-
    Paint by *****
    Upholstery by *****
    Fabrication by *****
    Engine by *****

Didn`t do anything for me apart from seeing a few reprobates from this forum - nil pwaang for 2023 !

I didn’t know camper and bus was defunct. Is camper and commercial still going? Somehow how Hayburner passed me by! Not sure how as it’s a brand you see everywhere! I liked what I saw of it on line last night and I read the story of how it’s not free any more because of rising costs. But it looks good!

I really liked seeing VW 39 at VolksWorld. Amazing story.

Most shiny show cars represent either loadsamoney, or money spent by businesses as in lost opportunity cost. That's why @1973daisey Simon's Daisy winning best in show at the Vee Dub show was so good.

In the past you could not see the stands at the auto jumble upstairs for people , you had to plan your move and creep round several laps..

I still stand by the more being more traders, I dont think it was busy by a long way.

I dont think Kelsey Media is doing a good job .. I tried to find online info and all I saw was ticket prices.

The Vee Dub show (revived Dubfreeze) for £14 with camping, even though tacked onto a rich peoples 4x4 show had more life, almost more visitors.

We aren't really post-covid either.. I know more people at the same time now with covid than during the peak of the pandemic. Its probably another thing I got at Sandown.
