  1. :(:(
    I'm confused now!
I've just got an email saying the letter will be posted out to me, but that the details are as follows

    Vin 239******8
    Model. 234031
    Production 04.05.1979
    Delivery. 08.05.1978
    England

I thought the model year 1978 ran from August 1st? My m-plate says '19 1' in the bottom left, which makes it the 1st day of the 19th week from August 1st, right?
The 5th of May is not the 19th week!

Can't any clever peeps get that blimmin decoder working again??:(

  7. I had a look for mine behind the fusebox on my 79 bus but couldn’t feel or see anything. Nothing behind the passenger seat either.

Is it possible that I don’t have one?

Back of the air pipe behind the fuse slightly hidden

  9. Would you know how to decode mine as mine is different since it is built in Australia

You might have to wait a while he’s gone walk about again

Do you have any vin type plates on it at all. On the passenger seat bulkhead or passenger air pipe under the dash. Stamped vin number in the engine bay left side of the chassis lip?

  11. yes but it is different to the uk m plate and there is only one plate and a stamping in the engine bay

There must be reference points somewhere. Post a picture up of those and lets put it to the collective.

As far as I know it isn't possible with an Aussie assembled VW.

  14. thanks and welcome back. What do you think I can do to find more information on mine?

You can get the birth certificate still, which lists the various M-codes it was originally ordered with.
