Need a “competent person” for a report on work completed

  1. Unless proven in court of law you risk a deformation case

  2. We had on here one very irate person from Manchester who was not pleased with the posts regarding his work.i don't remember all the details ,but it was very unpleasant.

  3. The amount of comments slating people on here I am surprised there isn't an in house solicitor :D:D

When my "restorer" agreed to a part refund it was on condition that I agreed to not refer to his work ever again ... anywhere.
A gagging order to protect his standing in the "VW community".

That's when I decided (with some hints from a TLBer) that I'd rather choke off his business than go through lengthy legal proceedings to probably not have the money anyway. (I've slowly recouped about 2/3rds of it by selling off what wasn't scrapped )

This was at the time that my late Mum went downhill fast with a major stroke followed by a protracted stint in hospital ... Put some perspective on the £££ that did.

I'd already been through having a widely read thread on VZi with a rhetorical question for a title along the lines of "Is this X£s worth of work.
It was obviously not, so potential customers were then able to DM me for details.
I think the title was changed eventually to something like "cannot recommended".

The only hitch was mention of the region he worked in.
Someone else (who I knew by then) in the same area, asked me to post that it wasn't HIM because he'd been getting questions about it

So ... with hindsight, naming and shaming could be problematic.
Giving any information beyond the actual work and circumstances also potentially problematic.

Giving others who are looking to have work done the option to find out who to avoid, would be the most "socially responsible" you can be without getting into hot water?

I can't see a problem with putting photos of their work done on here with note of who did it. As long as you don't say it's crap and let people judge for themselves (granted it's a bit late in this case). If they're proud of it, no problem, if they're not then they either should have done better or could offer to redo the job properly foc.

  7. Like a showcase of their work. or whatever the opposite is ... you'd have to post the photos and then walk away from the thread ...

Judging by the photos I think it would be “ fair comment”
