Toured on my motorbike but slept in hotels. Everything is VERY expensive.
I followed the route of a dfds ferry /car hire and found it a reasonable way of discovering where to go.
You can camp anywhere you like for free but there are some campsites .
Check out the yearly weather when to go as it is different to us in UK. We went end of their season and it was great . Hope you like long tunnels though

  4. I live in Norway, have done a lot of tours here, commercial camping sites are nice, but wild camping is legal and what I prefer. The longer north you go, the easier it is to find a spot. All mountain areas is extremely nice, west coast and mountains is for fishing. Wild camping and fishing keeps the cost down! 1005617_475327362548472_255629911_n.jpg

It would make an epic road trip / adventure, I’d love to drive there!

    Likewise!
I love Norway, and have been there many times to see my friend who lives in Stavanger; also when he was working for the winter Olympics in Lillehammer - but missed out when he was posted up to the far north in Hammerfest (always regretted not visiting then).
The idea of a road trip is fab, but getting over there would be the hard part I imagine. Are there any ferries left running from the NE these days?

Easier to go via Calais then up to Denmark and across that bridge that featured in, er….. The Bridge? Then through Sweden to Norway, that way? I’d love to go there too

I think it would be a long slog with the drive but taken steady it would be okay, just take in the surrounding scenery and relax..some easy driving music playing & get into a rhythm and it should be fine.

Ferries, Hull to Holland orDenmark perhaps and on from there?

    What an adventure though eh!

    Great thread resurrection!
Went as a kid to Geilo to ski "Dead man's gully" ...
and join the stampede for the all important all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast :food:
Not sure I could a-fjord it these days though
EDIT ... As always, we drove, but I couldn't tell you what route as I would have had my head down doing doodle drawings most of the way

Norway sounds like a great trip. One way could be to get across to Amsterdam and then a ferry to Norway?

  12. It’s definitely on our list, got a very good friend lives in Gothenburg who we keep promising to visit but I’d combine it with a full Scandi road trip.
2 things stopping us , cost firstly but also mozzies, from what I’ve seen they make the Scottish midges look like kindergarten and Sally reacts really badly to bites!

Sounds like fun. I think there might be a new ferry service directly from Holland to Norway and there is talk of a direct route being opened from the UK to Norway in 2026...

Yes especially as we had our 2 year old and our 5 year old kids with us and we were a month on the road! Great adventure tho.
There was a ferry route once upon a time from Newcastle to Norway but it had closed down by the time we went in 2017.
