    Edit
Sorry should have posted a preamble rather than copy & paste the ad.
Only selling as the van as it's not being used as much as it should be and time for someone else to enjoy it rather than sitting in the garage or just being used for local trips. That's no life for a Bay!
Don't know what's happened to the photos as they seem to have been duplicated.
Grateful for any advice or suggestions (possibly) on the advert and price as it's not a full camper but is a genuine tin top.

Finally thanks for all the help, guidance advice and in some cases, parts from members here, it's been invaluable, has saved time and expense and it's always good to know someone usually has an answer to something that's stumped you. Long may it continue and all the best.

Imported from Los Angeles where it spent some of its life ferrying children to baseball games as Junior League Baseball lapel were discovered badges in the van.

Being imported from sunny California it has not needed any welding so the underneath is in remarkably good, sound and original condition. The PO had it resprayed in the original colours.

Always garaged, it spends the winter next to the central heating boiler. We’ve owned it for 8 years and are only selling because it’s not being used as much as it was.

    Exterior

Finished in Kasan red with a Pastel white roof and windows and being based on a Microbus, it has the extra 3 opening chrome quarter lights in the rear passenger compartment, very handy to keep cool when the weather’s hot.

A genuine 1970’s drive away Awning is included in the sale, which matches the van’s two tone colour scheme perfectly, so there is plenty of room for camping, it even comes complete with very 70’s curtains! (Modern replicas cost iro £400).

    Interior

The rear seat is a full width, double rock and roll bed and covered in a gingham style material with matching curtains and complements the van’s colour scheme.
We’ve used it more as a day van so it comes with a built in collapsible table and chair.

It has a walk through cab making access to the rear easy. The dashboard has been replaced and now incorporates a radio/cd player (with speakers beneath the rear seat/bed) and a power socket to charge tablets/phones etc. It has the two working interior lights. An electric washer pump has replaced the original air pressure one.
The van still has its original spare wheel VW logo'd cover (with a spare wheel under it).
All the gauges work, speedo, fuel etc and they are illuminated at night!

    Mechanical

The 2 litre engine has twin Solex carburettors which have been set up on Peter Burgess’ rolling road a couple of years back. The engine produces 71bhp and has recently benefited from new leads, distributor cap and spark plugs as well as having the oil changed regularly. The fuel tank has just been replaced with a brand new one so with the engine having to be removed, the opportunity was taken to renew all the pipes from the fuel filler to the petrol tank as well as changing all the fuel hoses so that petrol containing ethanol can be used safely. One CV joint’s boot had failed so it and the other three CV joints have been replaced a couple of weeks ago. The work was done by 81a in Southport.
The mileage shows 73,000 but I can’t confirm if that is genuine as the milometer wasn’t working when we bought it but I fixed early on (thanks to the kindness of lhu1281 and top banana racing).
The exhaust is an Empi quiet pack and it clearly isn't but is a good sound.
Repairs, there have been a few. Ones that come to mind are Ball joints, CV joints, steering drag link, brake light switch, pads, original seat belts were well past their best so were replaced with Securon ones. PO waxoyled underneath and I've done inside the doors and tailgate.

    Paperwork

The V5 is present and correct. There is a large folder full of receipts for parts purchased and mechanical work done. Being classed as a vehicle of historical interest, road tax is free and an MOT is not required.
