Having recently rediscovered my guitar after many years of electronica, I’m looking for awesome guitar tracks for inspiration…. Bonus points for stuff that’s a bit leftfield. So TLB music aficionados, let’s hear what you got But, for the love of god, no Eric Clapton please
For me its got to be Thin Lizzy Black Rose, Gary Moore and Scott Goreham battle each other through the song & bounce off each other extremely well!
Got to be this, some of the most sampled guitar and beats of all time. Everything Ernie Islay plays is so smooth and no notes wasted. So far ahead of their time. Jimi Henrix played for them in the 60's. Not a lot of people know that.
I’m all for a bit of straight up rock guitar, say Steve Lukather on Rosanna, or some slide from Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt or Lowell George, or something a bit more simple but still brill from Keef. But two of my favourite guitarists don’t play those conventional guitar breaks, I love Johnny Marr’s Smith’s era playing, or this fella, sadly no longer with us, John McGeoch
Someone else playing it. But this is the greatest ever. Richie Blackmore would be the original, but here’s great interpretation
I like your thinking there Jack. The other one I would throw in that group is Dave Lindley & El Rayo X Mercury Blues is up there for me
He’s great. Only came across his stuff recently, the stuff he’s done with the Fearless Flyers and Vulfpeck, he is one funky dude
Trouble is if want a video it’s gonna be live, and live Deep Purple solos of the 70s are all about 20 mins and improvised. the classic is from the Machine Head album.
Here’s the album original, intro is John Lord on Hammond organ solo followed by Richie Blackmore on fire. Guitar solo comes in at 2 minutes, but like all great music gotta play the whole track for the effect
