No idea, not something I've ever done.

No idea either but if it fits in the hole in the crankcase and the pushrod fits through the hole in the washer then it should work. It’s very easy to make a spacer out of a bit of 2mm or 3mm wire, or you could use a thick steel washer and drill or file the hole out if necessary.

  3. Found some copper 22x 27 x2mm and 22 x 27 x 1.5mm so was thinking of sticking 2 of the 1.5mm in each, just thinking that the copper is going to be softer and won’t damage anything

  4. Is it not feasible to use the cut off end of the old tubes to make a spacer. Could even fit an extra O ring in there to keep them in place!

I’d use steel but one 2mm copper washer should do the job, a cut off tube as Dicky suggested may be too long/thick.

Just out of interest can you see any shims or spacers between the cylinders and the crankcase?

  10. 2013 500 Lost all gears - cable bush had come off. Can you replace the bush? No, have to buy complete cable set! Also suspect CV/spider gear. Bloody thing!

  11. Unfortunately after cleaning and refitting the tubes with the spacers, I still have a leak on no.1 and no.4:(. Running out of ideas

Blimey, that's peeing out! Must be something obvious, you sure you're not nicking the seals as you install the tubes?

It must be something obvious – split or shaved O-ring, still some sealant left or burred sealing faces in the head. And you have an exhaust leak.

  14. I’ve been extra careful installing, but it was these two that leaked before. All the others are bone dry.

  15. It is smoking from the oil burning on the j tubes if that’s what you mean. Guess it’s going to third time out:(

  16. Are the tubes not touching the J tubes .. I saw a new set of heads supplied by stateside where the bores were so rough I was quite shocked .. to leak that much something drastic is wrong . Are the tubes quite tight to fit ..?

  17. Yes they certainly don’t just slide in. My daughter has an endoscope that connects to her phone so I may have a detailed look at those two this weekend and post up.

  19. I wouldn’t be entirely surprised, I’ve had a lot of issues with exhaust leaks with my bay from loosening nuts to failed welds:mad: just one more thing to check!
