Question about 12v system?

Discussion in 'How To' started by Dripstand, May 30, 2017.

  1. Just fitting my 12v system to my t2 which is only supplying a few items as that's all I really need.

I'm mounting the 12v fuse board and battery charger under the rock and roll bed and thinking about cable runs and keeping things neat .

The board I have has a live and neutral connections and I'm planning on running cabling to include a live and neutral instead of just a live. Reason for this is feel will be better than drilling into body for neutral and I only have a small amount of items so not going to be a huge bundle of wires.

Was wondering could I attach the leisure battery charger/optimiser (6amp) to the neutral post of the fuse box and use one of the spare fuse spaces to attach the live from charger instead of going past the fuse box and connecting direct to battery terminals (see diagrams)

Is this safe and acceptable or is there a problem doing this?

Not wired it yet so can do either but by linking to fuse box saves a extra cable run and will be tidier.

Any issues with extending the cable from the charger to the battery. It's a smart charger so hoping it' will calculate the charging amount safely even with a extended lead.

    Hope that makes some sense
