There's a squeeking when I accelerate, not the pedal, it's coming from back, wheels or gearbox.

    Any suggestions?
    What to look at.

  2. I would look for a squeaking noise at the back, when you retire here I will have a look for you :)

Is the fan belt too loose and slipping?

  6. Type 4 ? I had a squeaky noise from the previous engine in the van a few years ago, turned out to be a leaky head to cylinder joint. More noticeable at low rpm under load.

It doesn't do it at a standstill, only in motion.

  8. As above - only under load - head joint or exhaust seal ...

If you do the hose pipe to ear test, pointing it around the cylinder heads and underneath round the exhaust to head joints, you can probably hear the crackling from the exhaust pulses leaking out even at idle.

    OK, looked it up.

Wouldn't have a clue as to how to go about measuring it.

Pull on fan at back .. does it visibly move in and out. If yes then worry about endfloat.

Scraping/sqeek sound comes from wheel, most noticeable in 1st very slow.

I've recently put new brake shoes, adjusted brakes numerous times.

It does change the severity of the noise when I've taken wheel off and looked at brakes... But still there.

    I'm losing hope.

  18. Brake drum not chafing on the back plate is it?

  19. Did you grind the wear lip off of the drums before refitting & adjusting the brakes?
