The following may not make sense but here goes:- only applies to the shorter filler hose type- with the metal pipe connected to both the new filler end and the short tank new end, aim the short end through the paint lid and poke it towards the top right above the wheel arch. This gives you room to slowly wriggle and twist the filler end in through the paint lid and then twist it so it is pointing up the void towards the filler cap. With some judicial force the short end can be pulled and squeezed from the wheel arch end over towards the tank. This is how I managed to do it...there are probably better ways. Hope this helps.

  2. You are right there, had to slice down with a stanley blade and used a screwdriver to peel it back and eventually got it off, I will use some rubber lube or similar to help reinstall, thought of asking Baz for advice on that but I think that is dangerous ground.

I would think hard about that, you wouldn't want it popping off on it's own accord.

  4. Is that about the rubber lube or asking Baz;)

  5. This is the way to do it.
I was having a terrible time with mine until Chris gave me this brilliant advice. It flew in afterwards.
Chris should add "Fuel Hose God" to his signature!

  7. Think I read that wiping a bit of petrol around the connections helps to slide them on to each other.

Been pottering about in the garage today, sorting replacement anti roll bars on Major & sorting an oil filter out on Gusbus, seeing how much oil I have put by.

  11. Got the new fuel tank breathers pipes fitted.
Also assembled and fitted fuel pipes from cap to tank, bit of a struggle but finally got it done. Refitted firewall.
So I now have all new ethanol proof hose from filler cap and all breathers.
Tough job very little space to get purchase on hoses but peace of mind for another couple of years.

  12. Well done. The fuel filler stuff is a right beggar of a job.

  13. It certainly is. Took quite a while, skinned the fingers a bit but got there in the end.
Final tighten of clips then refitted fire wall.

And it will if you dont get the new softer hose lined up on the spigot and the clamp on it exactly square....
That cost me half a tank of petrol .

I think Heritage sells those hinges..

  16. They do.

Worth checking the seals behind the flaps and adjusting the turnbuckle things under the dash so they shut properly.

  18. New Indicator relay arrived to replace the broken one.
Went to change it and the old one was working again.
    Quickest repair ever! @Lasty
Put new one in glovebox for when old ones goes pear shaped again.

My guess is the old one was damp and has now dried out.

  19. I loiks a quick fix ...

All you need to do now is find out where the water is coming in ...
I had that same issue a good few years ago so took mine ye locale windscreen shoppe and asked the guy to run a bead of their 'industrial' gunge under the seal and viola Rodders, no more leak .
Think I bunged him a tenner and the seal never leaked again
