Oily oil that slips is best....any colour except black!

  4. i decided to attack the worst bit of my bus today... filled all the holes with chemical metal filler after a few coats of kurust.

3 coats of undercoat and 2 coats of top coat...

hopefully keeps it at bay for a while until i make a masterplan... [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  7. Have you had a complete respray? Sage Green looks a bit better when it’s mixed to paint code. Old stuff tends to look…slimy.

  8. previous owner repainted it in VW Tiagagruen

which is sage green in the UK paint catalogue

  9. It is indeed.

  10. Began replacing all the brake lines. There’s a lot of twists and turns! ‍

I think the exact composition/ spec is on the Gene Berg for both AS21 and AS41.

  13. Lot of work, but well worth doing IMHO. I found the worst ones were the wiggly ones that go through the rear hubs, and the long up and over run where it connects to the pressure relief valve.

Worth taking the valve apart for a good clean inside, if you haven’t already

  14. Ah, thanks, good advice! Yes, passing the line through the rear hub was a real pita. Anyway, one side done and no kinks. :)

I've seen the AS specs ,just wondered about the spec for the Aluminium cases, could be LM25.

  16. If you have a search on here, several folk have stripped and cleaned the valves. Not that difficult, and they will be full of 40-year old muck.

  17. Perfect, will definitely do that.

(I’m still learning to navigate around this site. Interesting threads and helpful info…) I’ve added a couple of pics of the work I did on the front end. Not sure if this is the appropriate spot. Smiled at Sam’s ‘master plan’ comment. Keeping those ravenous, tin worms at bay is the way to go, for as long as possible, IMHO, especially if you want to enjoy the bus. My wife wishes I had left ours intact instead of immediately tearing into it 5 years ago, when we first purchased it. Alas, there are no fun, camping memories with this one. One day, I promise.

Ahh yes it more than likely will be as thats the most popular one for casting but what about L169?

It could be...but the residuals are quite low and controlled in L169 and this should make it more expensive....starting with purer Aluminium, be interesting to know.

Additive Layer manufacture a case for development purposes?
