Nooo! Don't get me started on additive layer manufacturing; *******ing about with the design, maybe, but you might as well do that in wood and filler, or 3D plastic printing if you are being flash.

Some of it is okay, some not so to be fair! Ive been testing IN718 with very good, comparable results to wrought IN718, AlSi10Mg, questionable.

Getting very techie here! Static or fatigue properties?

  4. MorkC68

    MorkC68 Administrator

Both! Tensile properties and EN fatigue with various build orientations

Done well to get decent fatigue properties.

For those yes, I do believe they may have been HIP'd and / or Stress relieved but the build quality was excellent and the test pieces machined very nice, combine that with a decent surface finish with polishing < Ra 0.2, they delivered good results

Indeed John, it was a project which went well when we expected some issues. Ti Alloy on the otherhand....

I've contributed to the manufacturer of many tonnes of IN 718....and 625 amongst many other metals/steels.

  15. You can do it!
I managed last year…and have managed to not actually utilise any of the purchases. That’s just because i’m slow and keep finding more things to do.

The service was great until my order arrived in the UK, where it was promptly lost. Their customer services were awesome though. I even got a free Stanley knife that a packer kindly left in the box for me - no
    blades though…I resisted complaining.

There's nothing wrong with the standard exhaust I've got. That's one of the few bits that doesn't need to be replaced :D

Shame they don't stock the exhaust heat shields. I need one of those (VWH apparently have them in stock). Or the heat exchanger cover plates to go with the gaskets!

  18. Ha. I got a free Stanley with the Blade out from JK.

It even had the packers initials on it.
