  1. That would explain it.

My floor mat is a big rubber mat with holes cut for the pedals, steering column etc. Fitting the handbrake boot would have involved dismantling the mechanism, I’m afraid I cheated by cutting it vertically at the front with Stanley’s wife, putting it in place then wrapping a cable tie round it. It sounds rough but looks neat enough, and no more watching the road go by.

Ah ha, that’s why I asked….. I knew it involved taking the handbrake lever etc apart, which is why I’d been avoiding the job. Maybe I’ll leave it for a 2023 Techenders job…

Cut down the seam and super glue back together also works.

    It's not difficult.
remove the pin that connects the vertical bit to the bit you pull on.
    Pull the vertical bit forwards.
    Slip the boot on.
    Put the pin back.
    IIRC

Part of me is thinking maybe I did this while doing the brakes and had unhooked the handbrake cables at the back so I could pull the lever far enough to slip the boot on. You should be able to see if you'd manage without doing that if you look under the dash.

  10. Rubbed down a couple of paint runs, flooded my chassis rails with Dynax and stuck my towbar back on.

Fired him up and went for a romp through the countryside.

Yes, instead of a rev counter I will listen for the tone..

Actually the 75 amp alternator whistles quite loudly under load..

Its precisely why I went for an in/out CB Maxi 3 oil pump, then the hacking is around the engine support bar not the engine block which can be swapped back by refitting the old pump. Upgraded my new engine at Techenders a few years back , as I had already cut and welded the support bar and had fitted the filter/cooler to the old engine..[IMG]

Was only fooled by the holes in the engine case being about 0.5mm too shallow for the new oil pump cover bolts so first cranking it dribbled oil ...

Decided to just buy a crank sensor for £12.00, so I can get on with the rest of the crank timed ignition. It appears also that if I am lucky with the EDIS-4, it does multi-spark ignition if I tell it to.

    This is the block diagram.

The PLX databus means I can get some numbers up on the multifunction displays on the dashboard and for data logging, without needing more work there.

Each item is available on eBay, but I am afraid that some of it comes from China, and I havent written the software yet. So sorry, its a bit too late :p .. but I am sure it will cost about half the price of a 123 distributor. And in keeping with the rules , it will be a kit, some surface mount soldering required.

Gosh, missed out on tickets for Peter Kay and now this, I’m desperate I tell you ….desperate, …could you perhaps just send something that looks expensive but isn’t and shiny but in an understated way. I’m happy to post a message card so it appears that I really really tried ;)
ps . What’s a 123 distributor, can you print me a label that I can stick on mine, sae on its way :D

I can do you a static timing LED that you fit to a hole drilled in the distributor, and I also have sticky backed labels saying "Boscsh 205AL" or "123" that I made on my label printer and cut out with scissors that I can guarantee the lettering wont rub off, with little hearts.. will they do ?
