  5. remember going to Tan Hill with lambretta club many years ago where they filmed one of those adverts. Walls were dripping with condensation inside!!

I remember getting to Tan Hill when I walked the Pennine way in the late 70's. You can see it for quite a while, it was a red hot summer and we were drooling at the thought of a few beers...it was shut and boarded up!

Dubfreeze was in February just the thing to rekindle your camping interest after slobbing it over winter. I’d go somewhere less south than Portsmouth, I think the location was its downfall before, but you’re never going to please everyone.

Done it a few times , great race , erm not race across some stunning scenery , a bit hairy up hardknott pass though

On a side note I don't think I'm up to driving all the way down to Portsmouth that time of year so if there is a midland / northern contingent of nutters then I'm all for sorting somewhere out , I'm off to a campsite next weekend in fact , decent facilities etc , pub a short walk away and I'm sure they'd welcome some trade that time of year ...i'll test the water

We tried something similar for Shardlow a few years ago. It was met with indifferent apathy. Winter is a difficult time for lots to camp. Even the lure of the village's 8 pubs wasn't enough of a draw.

The famous Shardlow half marathon is up for winning as well.
A 5 minute bus ride up to Castle Donington, half a pint in the 5 or so accessible pubs there, then back down to Shardlow to finish with a half in each of ours:cheers:
Of course only the wise stick to halves

  17. Give me the date... i will likely mostly collapse somewhere between donny and shardlow and Mrs Columbo will need to stay awake to carry me!

We'll end up at the bus station in either Derby or Leicester no doubt!
