ULEZ

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by art b, Mar 27, 2023.

  1. So a few people I know have Euro 5 diesels - although less than 10 years old they are verboten despite the dickheads in power actively encouraging everyone to go diesel.
    They're not happy...
We've got lady Lastys old company car , nothing flash , a low mileage petrol 2002 318 Beemer and that's ULEZ compliant .
It's all a bit silly really , wonder how long before the dickheads decide electric vehicles are not the future and push hydrogen ??

  2. I wouldn't know, I don't go there anymore, there's absolutely no allure for me.

However, I can't help thinking it didn't get it's nickname 'The Smoke' for no reason.

Must be another reason why everyone wants to come here, maybe?

My camper is tax free and is over 40 years old but if I check on the tfl tracker it shows as chargeable for ULEZ- how do you deal with that?

  9. I put my reg in
I think you still have to pay the congestion charge… but not ulez
That is how I see it

My camper comes up as needing to pay on the first page, but I then registered on their site to check and try and sort out and when I go into the detailed page, it says it's exempt...go figure!

The reg checker isn’t always right. You need to register your vehicle to ‘drive in London’ then if you check ‘my vehicles’ it should say ULEZ exempt if it’s taxed as historic vehicle or meets the criteria. This can take a couple of weeks to register correctly. But apparently there is a safety net to not charge you but don’t quote me on that.

    Every cloud etc.

I’ve got a new job in London and my current motorbike doesn’t meet ULEZ requirements.

Got to find a compliant replacement by August ;)

If you get a certificate of conformity from the manufacturer, you can register your bike as UKEZ compliant. Did that with my 2005 Yamaha FJR1300

  14. I usually write a letter to Sadiq, pointing out that I'm 6'3" and he isn't. Usually does the trick.

If it doesn't, send an mp3 of the Oompa Loompa song

Also my motorbike didn't meet the standard but if you take it to riverbank motors in the East end they have the equipment to test it for ulez. If it passes it's connected straight to dvla. So mine is a 1999 cbr600fx and it passed! Ride it almost every day into ulez! Trouble is it's £175 to take the test and if it fails it fails no refund so do ur research on the bike u have first. I'll fish out a link for you.

The sooner the better Chris . EV vehicles are a joke ..they are not environmentally friendly, as like pollute to power takes the carp out of built up areas true . But it's leaving mess elsewhere .
